Croft Chorus

Described by the Registered Manager of The Croft Community as 'co-production at its finest', Croft Chorus is a 10 week theatre programme for learning disabled adults.

Learning and developing skills in performance, voice, storytelling, devising, and scriptwriting, our participants work towards staging their own creative adaptation of a much-loved Christmas classic. In previous years we have had performances of The Elves and The Shoemaker, A Christmas Carol and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

Each project culminates with a public performance, celebrating our participants' achievements with friends, family and members of the local community.

100% of participants would agree that they gained an increased confidence in theatre and performance, that they had learned something new, that they had fun making the performance and they were proud of the final production.

Reflections during the process included:

  • ‘P has been talking about you for weeks, telling everyone that Next Door But One are coming in. He’s been so excited’ (care staff)
  • ‘He’s been practicing ever since the first workshop. All of the weekend when I was supporting him he just wanted to go over the story and practice his role’ (care staff)
  • ‘It’s just wonderful. It’s always great having you here. You can really see how everyone gets something different but equally as important from every workshop. Thank you.’ (care staff)
